It’s hot and
it’s humid! The A/C has been on constantly in the Aliner and you can see the
water pouring out of the vent as the air conditioner works to tame some of the
humidity.
This was a
good day to be out on the water, and we managed to find a pontoon boat for a
half-day rental. What a difference it makes to be out on the water – once you
start moving, the breeze immediately cools you down by at least 20 degrees.
Lake Anna is quite large and we had no trouble spending the second half of the
day cruising around the different coves and islands.
Stephanie
talked Karen into doing some cannonball jumps from the front of the boat. It
was fun for all! When we stopped at one of the islands to get out and swim, the
bluegill fish came up to us and started nibbling at our feet and legs. It
started with the small fish going after our toes, then progressed to larger
fish taking swipes at our legs and bathing suits. I’m pretty sure there are no
piranhas in the lake, but these guys were getting pretty aggressive.
Tonight, it’s
BBQ time again. Karen’s been itching to buy some fireworks ever since we went
through Texas two months ago. Tonight, she got some and we lit them after
dinner. Buddy, the dog, did not like them so much, but we did.
Next: we finally start heading west…
Nothing like being in a boat on the water to cool the body.
