Highway 50
East takes you out of the Washington, D.C. area, through Annapolis, MD and out
toward the ‘Eastern Shore’. It was a cool rainy morning and although we’d
missed the morning rush hour, there was still a lot of traffic on the road
until we got east of Annapolis.
Just in time
for lunch, Karen located a lunch spot in Kent Narrows, MD. The Harris Family
Crab House caters to the local crowd and features crab, oysters, shrimp and
other local seafood. You know it’s going to be good when they tear off a big
piece of butcher paper and lay it across the table before serving you. I recommend
the blue crab cake sandwich for lunch.
On our way to
the campground, Assateague National Seashore, we stopped at a local
produce/seafood stand and got some asparagus, shrimp and Amish spiced peaches
to use for dinner that night. Karen said the asparagus was the best she’d ever
eaten – I agree.
The rain
stopped before we got to the campground, but the skies remained dark and
ominous. Along with this was a strong and steady northeasterly wind. It was
blowing so hard when we walked out on the beach, that it felt like our legs
were getting sandblasted. We had dinner in the Aliner. By the time we finished
eating, the skies had begun to clear and we were treated to a brilliant sunset.
Beautiful sunset. Have you seen any wild horses?
